Although there are daily routines in place, the nursery promotes flexibility of routine, to ensure the needs of all children are catered for.

Heroes is located on the first floor of our Pre-school Unit. The whole of the first floor is dedicated to Heroes and is divided into key educational areas.

This room caters for 21 children with three members of staff of which two staff members are Qualified to an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in childcare and education. The third member of staff working in this room is an apprentice staff, working towards their level 2 or level 3 qualification. Heroes works on a 1:8 ratio.

The Heroes room is an extension of Rolos and the children continue their learning and development, following a similar routine.  The Heroes staff ensure that the children in their care are ready for their transition into their Reception Year.  The children develop their understanding of letters, the sounds they make as well as forming letters and learning to write their names.

We do a lot of work around the transition into school and the staff create a display board which shows the children the school they will be moving to.  We also take the children for school visits, including going to watch assemblies at Yardley school, so they become familiar with the new environment.
