This week in Jelly Babies we have had our yearly christmas party at nursery! We had lots of fun with Carrie, listening to our favorite christmas songs and dancing, playing with instruments and also doing christmas sensory play. After all this fun we then had a sepcial vsiit from Santa himself where he brought us all our very good children! We made our christmas crackers, calenders, placemats and also our salt dough plaques. As you have seen we have got stuck into lots of artwork using paints, glitters and messy materials. It has been so much fun and we have loved and learnt so much.

This week the Jelly Tots have enjoyed making lots of Christmas activities for the December month.

The children have really enjoyed decorating pine cones for our tree decorations! They have used pots of glue to drizzle over their chosen pine cone and were able to choose their own coloured glitter and sprinkle the glitter on top of their pine cones! The children really enjoyed being able to choose their own pine cones and said it’s their ‘Christmas tree’ for their Mommies and Daddies! We have also been learning the Makaton signs for ‘Mommy’ and ‘Daddy’ this week and been fitting it into our daily routine and activities. For example, when creating a piece of art work, we ask the children ‘Who is your picture for?’ and when responding, the children are starting to use the Makaton signs for ‘Mommy’ and ‘Daddy’ whilst answering to the adults – very well done Jelly Tots!

The children have also enjoyed listening to lots of Christmas songs and even seeing Santa himself! The children all received a special present of Santa and afterwards had a Christmas party to celebrate Christmas! The party involved lots of Christmas songs, dancing, balloons and lots of yummy party food too!

The children have also enjoyed lots of sensory play this week such as glitter in water, glitter in sand, tissue paper in sand and water, pine cones in sand and water and making salt dough decorations for Christmas bags too! The children were able to help mix all the ingredients together to make the salt dough and use a gingerbread man shape cutter to press into the salt dough to make the gingerbread man shape! The children were then able to paint their gingerbread man tree decoration whichever colour they preferred and then add a little sparkle too with their choice of coloured glitter.
