Apprentice Nursery Nurses aged 16 years and above:

  • a clear enhanced DBS disclosure

  • two satisfactory references

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy skills 
  • Good professional level of spoken and written English

  • Good level of ICT skills

  • Be proactive, self motivating, committed to completing a comprehensive apprenticeship while learning on the job 

  • Some knowledge of child development, the role of a nursery nurse and children's learning

Key Responsibilities:

> To be trained in the role of nursery nurse

> To contribute in providing a high standard of physical, emotional,social and intellectual care for children placed in the nursery

> To give support to other personnel in the nursery

> To implement the daily routine in the room

> To work together as a team supporting each other for the benefit of the children 

> Liaise with parent's and carer's sharing information about their child development

> Where required attend college and complete assignments on time 

 

Candiadtes for apprenticeships will be employed under the terms of an appretceship contract for 12 months.

 Assistant Nursery Manager 

We are looking for a candidate who is able to provide inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the nursery and maintain a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring curriculum planning within the nursery. To manage the provision, including staffing levels in the absence of the nursery manager.

> To manage the nursery and undertake all the necessary duties in the absence of the nursery manager

> To oversee the planning, delivery and monitoring of the nursery's EYFS curriculum in accordance with the children's social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs.

> To supervise staff on a daily basis

> To supervise volunteers, students on placements and work experience in the nursery

> To supervise the children where appropriate and to uphold the nursery's safeguarding and child protection procedures as well as adhering to health and safety

> To share any child protection concerns immediately with the nursery manager

> To provide high level of care that will enhance the children's general health and well - being

> To be the lead professional for an area of learning or management within the nursery

> To be the deputy lead professional for safeguarding and looked after children

> To assign alongside the manager lead professionals for areas of learning or management within the nursery

> To lead and be responsible for the running of a room to be assigned by the manager

> To act as a key person to a small group of children and to ensure their needs are reflected in the planning of routines and activities. 

> To be aware of children's special educational needs and ensure staff support these needs effectively

> To keep informative, accurate and up-to-date records, including records of progress and any behavioural or developmental reports

>To liaise regularly with parents/carers about their children's needs, interests and progress

> In the absence of the nursery manager to liaise with the nursery cooks on menu planning ensuring the children receive a healthy, multi- cultural diet

> To contribute to and attend supervisions and staff appraisal

> To contribute to staff supervisions and appraisals alongside the manager where required

> To attend regular team meetings

>To liaise and work in partnership with other agencies, both statutory and voluntary, where appropriate

> To attend any conferences, training events or meetings as identified by the nursery manager and to keep up to date with current good practice

> To adhere to the nursery's policies and code of practice on confidentiality

> To perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the nursery manager or owner

 

Skills/ Qualifications: 

 

> Minimum Level 3 qualification

> At least 3 years post experience

> Management experience of at least 2 years

> Clear enhanced DBS

> Paediatric First Aid 

 

Salary will be discussed at interview and dependent on experience
